Midland Mencap Sports Team would like to get a group of
parents, carers, staff and volunteers to run the 2014 ‘BUPA Great Birmingham
run’. This is a 13.1 mile, half Marathon around the city of Birmingham taking
place on Sunday the 19th of October. We are aiming to raise money for new play
and sporting equipment for the children and adults that access Midland Mencap
services.
Entry fee will cost you £34 and this includes your training T-shirt,
medal, finisher pack and accurate chip timing. As a thank you Midland Mencap
will also provide you with a vest/t-shirt for you to wear for the race.
Though we sincerely appreciate your support in taking part in the event
you should note that Midland Mencap takes no responsibility or accepts any
liability for your health & well-being whilst training for or participating
in the 2014 BUPA Great Birmingham Run. We highly recommend that you only
consider taking part in the run following a discussion with your General
Practitioner.
If you are running the Birmingham Great Run in aid of Midland Mencap can
you please enter via this link www.greatrun.org/Events/Event.aspx?id=14
and confirm with a member of the hub/sports team before June 8th.
Once everyone has confirmed, we will meet to set up a group sponsorship page,
provide training plans and discuss any concerns raised.
This is going to be a challenge for most of us but we are hoping that by
coming together through the power of sport we can show that Midland Mencap are
continually and actively aiming to support individuals with learning
disabilities in Birmingham.
