On Saturday June 8th 'Midland Mencap Magic' attended the Marion Smith Netball Championship.
The team was both excited and nervous as this was their first ever competition. The day started by taking part in a skills session run by an England
Netball coach where the players had the chance to use their new equipment.
Then it was down to the matches; 'The Magic' played 3 competitive
matches and 2 non-competitive matches. With only 7 team members able to play, this mean that the whole team took part in every single game.
The team played really well, and their efforts meant that
both Jo Williams and Charlotte McCarthy scored a goal and Kelly Brown scored
two. Midland Mencap Magic came fourth overall, the team all got medals and Charlotte McCarthy won
the ‘team star’ award.
The Sports Team would like to thank Sam who came along on Saturday
to support the team and Gemma who gives up her free time to coach the team.
Everyone had a fantastic day and made some new friends who Midland Mencap Magic plan
to play against in the near future. The Sport Team are extremely proud of everyone and very much look forward to entering the championship again next year.
Well done ladies!
